Makes me wonder what happened. The heel didn't break (or so it seems), so we don't have an obvious reason why she's standing in an alley, in a downpour, carrying a guitar case, crying... Still, it's a good picture.

What the fuck does WTF mean???

This is Laretta's 'creator' (and the commissioner), and I'd just like to add my two cents about one of my favorite commissions from David.

For all those wondering how Laretta ended up in such a miserable state, here's a brief summary. This scene takes place a couple years before she even met Cassie the Rock Vixen and joined her band. She was very hopeful about starting her own band and making it big in the music scene all on her own. Well, her band was rather little-known, but they had every good reason to succeed. It was on the night of a very important engagement that everything fell apart. All of the petty tensions between Laretta and her bandmates (jealously, greed, and one member's drug addiction) suddenly erupted to the surface, a huge fight broke out, and that was the end of Laretta's band, and her dreams of becoming successful (at least that's what she thought.)

One other little tidbit is that the rest of the band happened to be skunks, so Laretta ended up getting drenched in noxious spray. Things went from bad to worse as she was thrown out of the concert hall, no taxi or bus would allow her aboard because she smelled so terrible, so she had to walk all the way back to her brother's place (where she was staying at the time), then it started to downpour, and one of her stiletto heels broke (it may be hard to see, but it's just dangling loosely on the shoe she's holding). I think, at this point in the drawing, she's contemplating throwing herself into the gutter and just staying there for good.

So there you have it, what is easily the worst day of Laretta's life. Don't get too sad, though, as things obviously change for the better for her when she finally meets Cassie. Thanks again, David, for doing such a great job with this pic! Thanks also to everyone else for your comments!
